At 8,500 feet, a deck takes UV, wind-driven snow and a hundred freeze-thaw cycles a year. Details that are optional down in the Springs — joist tape, KDAT lumber, real drainage behind a wall — are what decides whether your project lasts five years or twenty-five. We build the second kind.

Do you charge for estimates?
No. We come out, measure, talk through the options and give you an itemised estimate in writing at no cost and with no obligation. Nothing is ordered or started until you approve it.
What areas do you serve?
Woodland Park, Divide, Florissant, Cripple Creek, Victor, Green Mountain Falls, Cascade, Chipita Park, Manitou Springs and the rest of Teller County. If you are somewhere further out, call and ask — we cover more ground than most.
Will you take on small jobs, or only big remodels?
Both. A lot of our work is exactly the sort of thing bigger outfits turn down: a sticking window, a failed section of deck board, drywall patching, a ceiling fan, flat-pack assembly, or the punch list left behind by someone else.
At the other end we build decks and garages from scratch and finish basements top to bottom. Same crew either way.
What decking materials do you use up here?
Mostly composite and KDAT (kiln-dried-after-treatment) pressure treated lumber. KDAT is dried after treatment, so it is far more dimensionally stable than the wet-treated lumber usually sold at big-box stores — it does not cup and twist the same way once our sun and dry air get to it.
We also waterproof-tape the joists. The framing under a deck is what actually fails first up here, and tape over the joist tops keeps water out of the fastener holes.
Can you build in winter?
Most exterior framing and structural work, yes — we frame through the shoulder seasons so decks are finished by summer. Concrete, asphalt coating and some finishes need temperature minimums, so those get scheduled for the right window. Interior work such as basements, kitchens, baths and repairs runs year‑round.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. Decks, structural changes, egress windows and system extensions generally need a permit from the City of Woodland Park or Teller County depending on where you are. We flag that during the walkthrough and handle the paperwork and inspections as part of the job.
How long will my project take?
Repairs and small installs are usually same-day or a single day. A deck or entry ramp typically runs one to two weeks, a bathroom around two, and a full basement finish three to four. Weather and inspection scheduling can move mountain timelines, so your estimate includes a realistic window rather than a best case.
